Daily activity:
Thursday 27th. water temp 86.5 SSW 6-10mph in the a.m. / 86.5 SW 2-5mph. The water was clean. There were several Spanish Mackerel and Hardtails this morning. Mostly a repeat for the afternoon with the wind dying. A few Spanish came in after I left at 5:00. Brenda did catch a nice Spade fish. Bait was scarce.
Friday: water temp 85.8 ENE 5- 8mph in the a.m. / 85.8 S 9-12mph in the p.m. The water was a little silty. There were a few Spanish Mackerel, big Ladyfish and lots of Hardtails throughout the day. Bait was scarce until midafternoon when Cigar minnows came in.
Saturday: water temp 84.9 SSE 16-20mph in the a.m. / 85.3 SE 9-15mph in the p.m. The water was clean. There were Spanish Mackerel, Hardtails and Ladyfish caught. Cigar minnows were available for live bait.
Sunday: water temp 85.6 NE 6-9mph in the a.m. / 86.7 SE 7-10mph wind in the p.m. The water was clean. Today was a repeat of yesterday except fewer Spanish. Cigar minnows were available for live bait.
Monday: water temp 85.8 ENE 5-8mph in the a.m. / 86.9 SSW wind 7-9mph in the p.m. The water was clean. There were two 5-pound Bonita, a few Spanish Mackerel and some Hardtails this morning. The afternoon bite didn’t start until 2:00. Spanish turned on along with big Ladyfish. I caught a small King Mackerel at 4:30, after drifting bait for 6 hours. Cigar minnows were thick along with Alewives.
Tuesday: water temp 86.2 NNE 3-5 in the a.m. / 87.1 WSW 7-9mph in the p.m. The water was clean. There were a few Spanish Mackerel, Ladyfish and Hardtails caught. Cigar minnows were available for live bait.
Wednesday 02nd. water temp 86.9 NNE 3-5mph in the a.m./ 88.2 W 5-8mph in the p.m. There were a couple of Bonita and Spanish Mackerel in the morning. The afternoon saw Ladyfish and one small King Mackerel I caught. There were lots of Cigar minnows and some Spanish Sardine available for live bait.
Red Tide status: As of the latest August 28, 2026 update, Karenia brevis (the red tide organism) was not observed in any samples from Northwest Florida over the past week.
